Horizon Leeds, part of the NHS Confederation, was born out of the need for a facility that could offer spacious rooms, state of the art equipment and superb catering facilities that would allow regular events to take place.
Headed up by the fantastic venue manager Megan, who not only helped to create Horizon?s aesthetic, but has overseen the build of the site through to completion, Horizon Leeds has grown to become a 7-person strong, award-winning venue hire business in 5 short years, continuously captivating clients from all industries and sectors.
The Challenge
There was plenty riding on Horizon Leeds ambitious plans to create a prestigious city centre conferencing venue in the heart of Leeds City Centre. They wanted state of the art audio visual solutions throughout their venue, to support their premium local food offering, and versatile meeting spaces. It was to be the first conferencing venue of its kind in the North of the UK, demanding the very best in audio visual. Fired Up Technologies was called upon to make sure that this important element was more than fit for purpose.
After landing the contract came an initial consultation with Horizon Leeds in which a detailed design for each conferencing and meeting space was developed.
The city centre venue, that is less than 10 minutes walk from Leeds City Train, was to be equipped with state-of-the-art and fully integrated audio visual and collaborative facilities. During the consultation phase, we kept the needs of potential venue users top of mind. The Fired Up Technologies approach is to minimise technology complexity ? allowing users to collaborate freely and get on with what they do best.
Our key ambition here was to create accessibility: making sure venue users of all levels of technological competence had access to the solutions they needed, when they needed it. We wanted the users to be able to concentrate on enhancing their conferences and meetings above all else.
The Solution
Our venue wide wide approach placed collaboration, interactive technology and visual quality at it’s heart.
For each conference and meeting room , we had to think about the spaces needs, size and flexibility. We needed to provide visual presentation and collaborative working solutions fit for each of the 6 hireable spaces. As well as upgrading the Horizon Leeds training space with more interactive technology to make training more engaging and help bring a new dimension to the training facility.
The ‘Create’ room was Horizon’s Leeds largest and most versatile event space to equip. We Incorporated three 4K projectors to create visual beauty, Create also features wireless presenting capabilities, an integrated PA system and 70 plug sockets, as well as high speed fibre Wi-Fi that keeps things running smoothly.
Create 1 was the newest room at Horizon Leeds. This spacious room is events centric. Hosting conferences, seminars, lectures , workshops and exhibitions. For this space we installed a comprehensive AV package, which includes two 4K projectors, an integrated PA system, wireless presenting and 40 plug sockets. We also incorporated electronic branded welcome and itinerary point just outside the meeting room to allow company?s branding, messages and values to be displayed up entering the venue. We also supplied interactive digital tables to enable users to showcase company brochures, websites and product designs.
Create 2 was another smaller events venue that we equipped with a 4K projector and integrated PA system which can be controlled by the wall-mounted touch screen panel, we have also helped Horizon Leeds facilitate and offer AR, VR and interactive poll technology to their clients.
Inspire was Horizon Leeds designated training room. At the heart of this vibrant meeting room, we decided to upgrade their existing SMART board that was looking a little tired and supplied an interactive and user friendly solution via the Avocor screen which had added a great new dimension to their training facility.
Think was Horizon Leeds executive boardroom where technology was truly the focus. With a 75?? plasma TV with split screen functionality, ensuring that 4 different screens can be visible at any one time. We also installed a video conferencing system that allows users to connect at both the local, national and international level.
Engage was the smallest space to fit out. Perfect for confidential meetings, interviews or ‘huddles’. No longer do users need to settle for laptop screens, whiteboards and small TV?s, instead we installed a 42?? plasma screen, high speed fibre internet and even an electronic branded welcome and itinerary point outside the meeting room, helping users create a great first impression. Creating a suitable space for small board meetings and mind mapping sessions, as well as confidential one-to-ones, interviews and catch ups.
The Outcome
The interactive benefits of the Fired Up Technologies solution, as well as the detailed and expert technical elements, were well received by everyone involved.
